BOREAL ATROPHY - ...And The Heavens Are Scoured by Scarlet CD

Formed by Fatal (Latif Boukhemal) and Haavard Tveito (Vetter NOR). in 2023, Boreal atrophy was originally born from a collection of poems written in England in 2019. Following Boukhemal’s relocation to Norway in 2020, the lyrics would take on a new form, shaped by Boukhemal’s outsider, environmentalist perspective on the real time decay of Norwegian nature and woodland.

Although predominantly influenced by second wave Black Metal, the music often strays into other territories, influenced by the British stylings of alternative and shoegaze.

This, along with Tveito’s affinity for soundscapes and desire to take his output in a new direction, make for a potent combination, aiming to push the boundaries of modern black metal. The barely controlled chaos of Fatal’s vocals and guitar work, prevalent bass and production of Tveito, and drummer Nils Haugfos’s (Vetter/Finnskogen NOR) prog rock influence, aim to leave an impression of collapsing majesty seared onto the darkest recesses of the listener’s mind.
