The mighty Volahn returns at last, with one of the most anticipated Black Metal albums of recent years.

11 long years passed since 2014's masterpiece, "Aq'Ab'Al", with EMR focusing on various other projects, however it is in Volahn that his boundless creativity and ancestral pride shines the darkest. Named and themed after the sacred texts which narrates the Maya's creation myth among other chronicles of these mesoamerican tribes, and simultaneously honoring the centenary of the independence struggles of Guatemala and Mexico, a projection of the ancient Maya pride, wisdom and self-determination into the present and into a fearless future.

Over 50 minutes of a maelstrom of mesoamerican witchery and occultism. Volahn, while maintaining the same ethnic/native elements and bewitching melodic intricacy of "Aq'Ab'Al", also steps back into ancient ways which inspired the summoning of this entity, and were more present on the sound of the project's debut. Among these influences, the Les Legion Noire speaks louder, with the haunting dissonance and fierce chaos of projects like Belkètre and Mütiilation serving as corner stone to this record, while the admitted Blazebirth Hall influence being felt in the long song structures and hazey, cloudy sound of the album, an admixture that recalls also the works of Lam under Hand of Glory.

Absolutely masterful record, and to nobody's surprise a highlight of 2025 thus far.
