Sátán Metál compiles previously unreleased demo recordings from 1985–1986 by Hungary's long-forgotten evil metal cult, Atomic. Much like their contemporaries Dentonator, Angel Reaper, and Tormentor, Atomic delivered a primitive form of first-wave black metal inspired by Bathory and Sodom; music driven more by youthful aggression and rebellious spirit than technical proficiency.

What emerges is an exceptionally raw recording that perfectly captures the untamed energy of mid-1980s Eastern European underground metal. Despite its rough edges, these demos remain surprisingly listenable for devotees of Eastern Bloc Obscurities. The vocals are raspy and youthful, sounding as though the singer had only recently gone through puberty. The guitars buzz and crackle with the fidelity of the cheapest practice amplifier imaginable, while the drums struggle to keep everything from completely derailing. For fans of this era and style, these qualities are not flaws, they are precisely what make recordings like this so compelling. Sátán Metál offers an authentic glimpse into a time and place that can never be recreated. This is the sound of teenagers in 1980s Hungary channeling darkness through whatever equipment they could get their hands on. The result is raw, chaotic, and genuine.

A fascinating document of Eastern Europe's early extreme metal underground, Sátán Metál stands as a testament to the harsh conditions and uncompromising spirit that gave birth to some of the most primitive and evil metal ever committed to tape.
