What it did do was establish the band firmly within the Bay Area scene: “We were jumping in the pit along with so many other bands,” singer Carl Fulli recalls. “We got to play with Testament, D.R.I., Exodus and Slayer all within the next year – it jump-started us.”\u003cbr\u003eEpidemic carved out a sound entirely their own: the raw ferocity of Slayer’s “Reign in Blood” colliding with the punk-infused chaos of Nuclear Assault and S.O.D., anchored by Mark Bodine’s thundering distorted bass and propelled by Fulli’s uniquely venomous vocals.
